and that’s just that.  You may have heard of 42 year old Neenah Pickett’s quest to find a husband in the next 51 weeks.  Her website, 52 weeks to find my husband, says it all.  Essentially homegirl is looking for love and going all out to do it.  She has 4 friends helping her along the way and she does a weeekly youtube video.  There’s a section on the site for men to upload pictures and information about themselves.  As of yesterday, she had 70 men.  It’s kind of like a TV show, but not just on TV.

So what you SASSY women, is she doing the most?  Is she just being proactive?  Is it crazy (as Essence describes it)?  Share your thoughts.

As for me, I just wish her luck.

Hey, if that’s what she feels is necessary in her life right now, then more power to her. Some part of me does feel like finding a mate is like achieving anything else and does take some kind of work, but all of that seems a bit much for me personally. Then again, I don’t know what it feels like to be 42 and still searching. I’d probably go to great lengths too. If nothing else she’ll surely increase her chances. I’m curious to see her results. It’ll be interesting to say the least.

Wow, hadn’t heard about this one. Its… interesting. I guess its no different from the whole internet dating thing, except she ain’t tryin’ to date, she wants to skip straight to jumping the broom.

If she finds someone and it develops into something long lasting then I guess it will be worth it.

Sure she’s a little ‘extra’ – but how is this any better/worse than the chic….

that goes to the club, bumps and grinds on some dude, exchanges #s with him, dates & has relations with him before she knows where she stands and then ends up feeling mad/sad/stupid when he doesn’t commit?

Or even those who pay for online dating. Isn’t the point that you are SERIOUS about finding depth in a relationship?

I think ol’ girl in video is extremely aggressive, but heck – she puts it out there. I can’t hate.

i’m making a judgement call on whether this way is “better” or not, I just thought it was interesting how far she’s willing to go. this is VERY different than going to the club or online dating, in both examples, it’s just you and whoever you’re talking to. with Neenah, this is extremely public.

i applaud neenah for trying to get hers, because lawd knows if i was 42 and single in the armpit of the northeast instead of just 26 and single here in central jersey (*waves to neenah*) i might be trying more risque strategies myself.

me? god willing, i will be moving soon.
