Dear Jesse Jackson,
Please for the love of God, stop talking. Your words about Obama, uttered last week, were more than just “hurtful and wrong,” they were hateful. As a self-proclaimed “hater,” I kind of get it. But I hate on simple things – bad weaves, muffin tops, and bebe’s kids – and my words don’t carry the weight yours do. Mr. Jackson, you are hating on the presumptive Democratic candidate for President and I will not stand for it.
Saying “See, Barack’s been talking down to black people … I want to cut his nuts off,” is completely inappropriate and out of line. Your “private conversation” excuse and feigned ignorance over both the microphone and the camera are unacceptable. The context doesn’t matter – those comments were not ok. Your apology, extended only after O’Reily informed you he would be playing them on his show, was weak and insincere.
If you would take the time to listen (or read) Obama’s entire Father’s Day speech, you might realize that he isn’t talking down to black people. Mr. Jackson, what Obama is doing is called, “keeping it real.” Black men do need to take care of their kids! Personally, I’m glad that another black man is taking our community to task publicly. Mr. Jackson, we get it; I know there are countless social ills to combat. But we can’t treat our problems like some kind of hierarchy – we need to deal with all of them, not just the issues you deem most important.
I’d like to send a shout out to your son for putting you on blast publicly , something Obama is too gracious to do.
Jesse, you are not relevant. It’s not 1984 or 1988, it’s 2008, so please step aside and let someone else shine. Don’t hate, appreciate. You aren’t helping the campaign, and your obnoxiousness reflects poorly on you. So please Mr. Jackson, go somewhere and be still.
Love always,
Eva
p.s. Please take Al Sharpton with you.
p.p.s. – Jena ≠ Selma, thanks!

Lol @ your p.p.s. Eva. I would have repeated it but don’t know where to find that “not equalled to” sign on my sidekick.
I am beginning to wonder if the black community actually does what Obama to be the next president. It seems like we keep taking actions to further push the white supporters away and at the same time display our ignorance about certain things. I agree that some of the leaders in our community need to move over and chill for a minute before we all end up with a president who will drive this country even further into the dumps and that won’t be good for any of us, especially the poor and working class.
Hopefully people will start being more responsible and start thinking before they just open up their mouth, besides Rev. Jackson has no room to be digging up any skeltons with the closet full of bones that he has, but that’s a different convo for a different day…
Preach on Eva, Preach on.
